Anika Cetina and Valentina Miloš
performance

The dance production This One: Misericordia is the first creative authorship shared by dance artists and close associates Anika Cetina and Valentina Miloš.
The starting point of this work is the use of two works carried out as solo performances, Anna, balla by Anika Cetina and I(s) by Valentina Miloš. Using the subjects of these works as a basis for their new piece, the artists continue to focus on the matters of life and death.
In this exploration, they use Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Requiem in D-minor, K. 626 (1791) to challenge the interests of placing the matters of life and death into the context of performance and theatre in dance and choreography. Attempting to find the place and answers in their artistic interests, the authors do not deplete the very idea of the work’s theme, but rather their own capacities of focusing on it.
This One: Misericordia poses the question what it means, in a performance context, to live and die, i.e. accept our time and place and find meaning, purpose and grace in them.
Oro supplex et acclinis,
cor contritum quasi cinis,
gere curam mei finis.
