4th Block | FROM GOLD TO IRON

OPENING WORDS

While we’re chasing precious metals to become minerals, ANTISEZONA’S 4th block is chasing its second-to-last dates this year to bring you a three-day programme rich with local and international guest performances, a lecture, lab and premiere.

Marjana Krajač is starting us off into this golden beginning of the programme with her research lecture SPATIAL LAYERS AND NEW FORMS: MOVEMENT SPACES AT THE WORKE’S AND PEOPLE’S UNIVERSITY MOŠA PIJADE IN ZAGREB, where architecture is fluid (Derrida), spaces are multilayered and experimental dance practices – as tools for the emancipation of art, processes and spaces – have been researched. We are met right after with the premiere laboratory situation of the performance ALCHEMICAL BEAST, where Sindri Uču, through the solo form, confronts herself and audiences-witnesses with the so-called “fail state” result, in which the newly created beast is fighting for its life and accompanying experiments are threatening to evaporate.

The second day is permeated with Darío Bardam’s lab in which he shares his practice of dance as a phenomenon that creates aesthetic and sensory knowledge, citing three essential areas of focus – distribution of attention, feedback and dance archive – while Ana Kreitmeyer is preparing us for the climate crisis with affective, physical and cognitive exercises, simultaneously aware how absurd and impossible such an endeavour is, in the guest performance PREPARING FOR THE PRESENT, and Dora Brkarić is teasing us by challenging traditional patterns of female identity, delving into the roots of her upbringing in Istria and stripping away the layers imposed on the body by societal expectations, in the guest performance S T R I P T E A S E

The iron finish of the block – the third day – revises the learned lessons with another performance of Ana Kreitmeyer’s PREPARING FOR THE PRESENT and with Darío Bardam’s performance SEGUIR MOVINGO (KEEP MOVING), in which you can see the application of the practices he shared in the similarly named lab.

Be vary of charlatans, discover-obscure new secrets and see you on ANTISEZONA!
