Sonja Pregrad
performance

New artwork, like a music album, bears the name of the newly founded organisation that produces it, recording the space exploring body, materiality and performance and also their status within the relationship between dance and other performative genres (drag performance, spoken-work, visual art, theatre).
What can the drag name Object of Dance say? What is the drag of contemporary dance? In this solo I try to stretch the concept of drag from the body (identity) to dance and movement, speech and the idea of the play (theatre). I am taking over, distancing and modifying how I perform the demands of social norms. Gender, body, mobility, work, dance, splitting the roles of author, spectator and recipient of the performance into smaller fragments.
What happens when I write from your work, she from mine and his and hers, and then I take her voice, or give her mine, or withdraw my voice and bring in hers? Where are we then? On the skin, nearly on death, draft, silence, on something and on someone, on departure, arrival, on interruption and on connection, discontinuity, on the corners of holes, interrupting the end.
