Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin and Nomad Dance Academy Croatia
participatory programme
How do we care for another body while staying attuned to our own? How, through contact and communication, can we open the body to movement and dance, both inside and out? This morning class is rooted in a self-creating practice, combining theory and various exercise and movement methods to explore non-normative ways of giving and receiving care for both our own bodies and others’. We will explore fascia movement, joint articulation, and the giving and transferring of weight. Additionally, we will work on communication with a partner and the group, adapting to the situation. Our aim is to find ways tNaama Shoshana Fogiel Lewino open our bodies to movement and dance from a place of compassion, while observing the space and our relationship to it.
ABOUT THE WORKSHOP LEADER
Naama Shoshana Fogiel Lewin is a political movement artist who continuously searches for ways to find hope. She completed a two-year dance and choreography program at the RE-SEARCH center (IL) and has been based in Brussels since 2019. From 2021 – 2023, she danced in Marco Torrice’s project ‘Melting Pot’ (BE). In addition, she works as a rehearsal director and dramaturge, having assisted artists like Pierre-Louis Kerbart with “Cause I’ve been thinking ’bout forever, ooh” and “Dragon,” Florian Boutin with “KêR,” and Zoé Hagen with “Durch Den Monsun.” In 2023, she completed a master’s degree in choreography and performance at ISAC. Naama’s artistic work questions identity, the politics of space, and our relationship to the land, with the aim of dismantling systemic power structures through the poetic potential of movement. She is inspired by natural forces such as water, fire, and earth, believes in magic, and occasionally writes.
