Sindri Ucu
performance
Feminism, body hair, a meticulously gathered, studied and documented genealogy of a family tree, or, the people who hurt you the most – what is it good for? It’s good enough for this performance.
A study in four movements. Bad dancing, adequate singing, a heroic battle to speak less and excellent conceptualizing come together in this solo performance where improvisation is not guaranteed – but its echo resonates all the way from 2017. Spoken poetic prose promises monolithic authorship with ambiguous citation. Scars of religious warfare fought on private battlegrounds face dismissal, much like archetypical gender identity markers did. What of it belongs to the world versus what is in her recycle bin, soon to be expelled out of her orbit to become space trash? Here is the world and there she is.
